I-285 to the Northside-Powers Ferry Rd. exit (exit 22). If you are going west on I-285, turn right at the first light onto Interstate North Parkway. Stay on this road as it curves west, through an intersection and crosses the river. After crossing, the parking lot is an immediate right.
If you are going east on I-285, continue east to the second light, then turn left (north) and cross the bridge over I-285 and continue through the traffic light on the other side onto Interstate North Parkway, then continue with instructions above.
You can start anywhere you'd like, but I will give directions from the Main Parking Lot at the Chattahoochee river and Interstate North Parkway SE.
You can attack the course however you'd like, and you can ride or run to get questions 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. I will describe the route in the order of the Big Red Numbers you see on the map.
Proceed along the river upstream on the trail. Take the Bird Viewing Board Walk to the left and follow this trail until it leaves the board walk and continues uphill where it eventually dumps you into a cleared strip with woods on both sides. You will take a left and continue on the trail along the left side of the cleared area until you come to the back side of an office building.
Question #1: In this location you will see a couple of concrete rectangles approximately 5 feet by 7 feet. How many pipes are coming up out of the concrete? Either concrete pad, the number should be the same.
Continue to the Red Number 2 (Wooden Bridge) following the trails on the map.
Question #2: On one side of the bridge count the number of vertical supports running from the floor of the bridge to the bridge handrail not including the large round ones at the ends. Count one side.
Head up the steep hill located at one end of the Wooden Bridge. The trail splits with little spurs leaving and entering, but stay on the main 'biggest' trail until it runs into another trail at the top of the ridge. Here you will find a Trail Map.
Question #3: What two letters are found on the bolt head on the back of the trail sign post?
Make your way back to the main trail on the parking lot side of the restroom facility (the Red 4 on the map).
Question #4: Count the number of similar shaped and colored signs for the Vita Course 2000. They are all located in the same grassy area in a stretch of about 100 yards.
Follow the River Trail upstream past the Restroom facility and across the bridge. Take the immediate Left on to the trail headed away from the river.
Question #5: On the Restroom facility side of this trail there is a sign titled "Partner Restoration Project." Count the number of empty hold in the sign post between the bolts which hold on the sign.
Continue on this trail away from the River. Follow this trial across the main trail, by the bench, and continue along this trail as it gets smaller and follows a creek on your left. Eventually you'll come to a Sewer Man hole cover.
Question #6: What 4 digit number is listed between V- and -1?
At the Sewer Top follow the trail to the right up the hill. This will join with the main trail heading toward the pond. From the trail sign where this trail joins the main going toward the pond go to the crest of the second hill (yes, this is vague) and follow the unmarked side trail off to the Right to locate the small Cemetery.
Question #7: On the tallest stone you will see the name Arthur. How old?
Find your way back to the main Trail. Continue to the pond. At the pond there are two wooden bridges. Find the one closest to the back parking lot.
Question #8: Who's Eagle Scout Project was this bridge? Robert Who?
Finish the run/bike to your liking.
